Profile 1
I began my career with Central Scotland Police as a typist in Falkirk Police Office. I’ve worked in various offices throughout the Force, and across different departments including Firearms, Complaints and Discipline and in other Police Offices – Grangemouth, Stenhousemuir and Camelon.
I’ve kept on the move – working in various front offices as a Communications Officer/Receptionist. It’s interesting because I’ve met – and worked with – people from all walks of life. I enjoy working on the communication side of things – for example sending officers to incidents, and making sure they have all the information they need to do the job well.
Right now I’m a Supervisor, working in the Service Centre. I’m heading up a Team who are trained to answer calls from people requiring police assistance.
Working with Central Scotland Police has been very fulfilling for me. Over the last 19 years I’ve gained the kind of skills that I really don’t think I’d have acquired anywhere else.

I joined Central Scotland Police 20 years ago. I’ve worked in various different posts. That’s what I like about working here: it’s full of variety – totally different from anything you would find in another workplace.
The police environment is never mundane. It changes from routine work one day to involvement in major incidents the next. For example, I was involved in the Dunblane Enquiry and Anti-Terrorist operations within the Force. You need to be adaptable and flexible to meet the needs of the service. It’s challenging, but it’s also extremely rewarding. It’s full of opportunities too. Police Staff can now work as Special Constables or Police Community Support Officers, so I can get out on the frontline for a totally different experience.
