Lesley
My name is Lesley and I am a Police Constable based in Bo’ness Police Office. I joined Central Scotland Police in November 2006 after 11 years in the leisure industry. I was very much in my comfort zone there, so deciding on a new career was one of the hardest decision I’ve made. But it was also one of the best.
I researched other Forces before choosing to apply to Central Scotland Police. I chose Central for a number of reasons including the Force size and area. On a practical level the website and annual reports were user-friendly and answered a lot of my questions. Central offered a variety of shifts, so I knew the work could fit in with my other interests. I spoke with some serving officers too, and that really made my mind up.
The training is fantastic. I really enjoyed the 15-week residential training at the Scottish Police College. The on-going training is great too. All the training staff are approachable and if you need support, it’s there for you.
I like the variety of the job – and being out in the community. There’s no typical day; they’re all different. I feel like every incident is a learning curve and another notch in developing my experience.
Working as a Police Constable for Central is a personal achievement. I’m very proud of myself for reaching my goals to date and I know I’ll continue growing in experience and knowledge. I am looking forward to completing my probation and being successfully confirmed. I’d sum it all up by saying that life at Central Scotland Police is exciting, challenging and enjoyable.
We're central. You're central.
