Your career with Central Scotland Police begins with a two-year probationary period. You’ll receive initial training at the Scottish Police College, then local training in-Force and practical experience whilst working in the operational policing environment.

Summary of our Probationer Training Programme

Week 1 1 Induction Course 5-day training course to prepare you for your Initial Training Course at the Scottish Police College.
Week 2 2 Initial Training Course (ITC) 15-week residential training course at the Scottish Police College.
Week 18 3 Post ITC Training Course 2-week training course at Force Headquarters encompassing training on local procedures and I.T. training.
Week 20 4 Tutor Attachment 10-week placement with a trained Tutor Constable at your allocated station.
9 months service 5 Developmental Training 4-day training course at Force Headquarters. Additional developmental training.
16 months service 6 Pre – Reconvention 4-day training course at Force Headquarters. Additional developmental training.
18 months service 7 Reconvention 2-week residential training course at the Scottish Police College, including practical assessments and examinations.
22 months service 8 Confirmation Course 4-day training course at Force Headquarters. Includes Final Examination, Fitness Assessment and 20 minute Presentation.

After successfully completing the two-year probationary period, officers will be confirmed in the role of Constable.
